Events With an External Vendor Requiring a Completed Certificate of Insurance (COI)

This article outlines what is required by KPU's Department of Risk when you enlist an external vendor to support or work at your event.

Body

Here is what Risk requests when KPU enlists external vendors for an event. This could be an external caterer, therapy dogs, an external event equipment supplier (who is not already a contracted service), food trucks, etc..
Please copy and paste below and send it to the vendor you wish to work with.
They can in turn send below to their commercial insurance broker, who can complete the attached form on their behalf. (see attached COI) The COI will need to be attached to your Event Request at least 10 days before the start of your event.

Commercial General Liability Policy

  • With $2 Million third party liability coverage
  • Add KPU as additional insured on their policy
  • Be endorsed to provide KPU with 30 days advanced written notice if they are cancelling their policy or changing their policy.
  • Include a cross liability cross
  • Their insurance must be primary and not require the sharing of any loss by any insurer of KPU

Automobile Insurance

  • With $2 Million Third party liability Coverage

 

The vendor must obtain, maintain and pay for any additional insurance which the Supplier is required by law to carry, or which the Supplier considers necessary to cover risks not otherwise covered by insurance specified in this section.
The vendor shall provide the University with proof of the insurance in the form of valid certificates of insurance prior to this event.
The vendor shall maintain coverage throughout the day they plan on having this engagement.
Insurance must be presented to KPU at least 10 business days prior to the day of the event.
