Q1. What is Zoom?

Zoom is a web conferencing tool that has been procured for both teaching and learning environments and student-to-student collaborations. We encourage the use of Zoom specifically for teaching and learning environments and student collaboration. KPU's Zoom installation is provided with Canadian data residency. Please do not use other installation with your students as they will not be FIPPA compliant.

Q4. How do I record a zoom meeting?

Instructions on how to record a Zoom meeting can be found here.

Only staff or faculty with a role as host/co-host can record a Zoom meeting, which is then stored remotely on Zoom's cloud storage. It can be retrieved from the Zoom web portal by the recording owner (host), who can download the recording and upload it to Kaltura My Media—and share it with participants (students). Only the instructors (as a host) can delete the recording themselves.

Q5. What's the maximum number of participants I can have?

The maximum number of participants in a Zoom session is 100.

Q6. Can I access KPU Zoom through the Zoom app on my phone/tablet?

Yes, Zoom can be accessed via phone/tablet. You can find instructions on accessing via phone/tablet here
